Poet: Salaam Green
Racial Healing Through History, a Revival for All. Birmingham's First Poet Laureate 2024-2026
Coming Juneteenth
A collection of poems buried beneath the soil of the Wallace Plantation in Alabama by Pulley Press a subsidiary of Clyde Hill Publishing. In this deeply personal and historically rooted work, Salaam Green interviewed descendants of enslaved people AND descendants of their slave owners. The Other Revival offers readers a glimpse into generational memory, to spark the possibility of a new conscious in racial healing.
“Salaam Green teaches history, with all of its vexing and painful details, in elegant poetic form. The stories and images she shares in verse testify to the remarkable resilience of Black Americans (Alabamians to be precise.) Honest, vulnerable, insightful, and hopeful, Green's poems are soul food."

What People are Saying
“I want every county in the United States to somehow engage in this kind of collaborative poetic anthropology–one that crosses boundaries of race, age, and gender.”
–Andy Fogle, author of Mother Countries and poetry editor at Salvation South
"The Other Revival is important politically because it asks readers to consider other paths into history. As museums and support for art and artists are shut down, The Other Revival gives us all a new model of keeping history."
-Francis McCue, Editor and Co-Founder Pulley Press
